It's Not Christmas Anymore

This post is simply to acknowledge the fact that it is not Christmas anymore. I do realize this. However posting to this blog has become more difficult because Google now has me under so many accounts that to access this one is not too easy anymore. Cuz I have to log out of one to go to the other etc etc.
I am trying to figure out how to consolidate my Google accounts. If anyone has tips on that please let me know, k?

Bonificent has been a bit of an online hermit this year, spending time on other things, but I do hope to add some new content soon. Blogging does not always come naturally to me as I am my own worst censor.   :)

I have a tendency to think that if I reach out my hand to the world, this is a good way to get it bit off! So I am trying to locate a bit of reckless courage and do a bit more sharing. I will try for more bravery. Now let me go rummage through my folders and see if I have something to post up here....

The stage is crumbling

Our natural environment on earth is the stage upon which we play out our lives.  If we allow the recklessness of large corporations and companies to cause any damage, much less the severe and lasting damage caused by the Deepwater Horizon explosion, we are destroying the stage upon which we play out our lives, and the play will not go on for much longer. The stage will collapse and the actors will sicken and die. To not take the most effective action we can now is to allow the death of out natural resources and will surely result in a slow (but rapidly quickening) suicide of the human race.  Please, please do not allow this to happen, but show us your leadership now.

A Key West Pelican in Better Days.

Twas nice...

It twas nice to know the Follett girls could still kick up a fuss. We descended on Key West in pieces. I was first to arrive and to wonder why that nice Cuban family was standing atop the entrance to the little airport terminal building. I looked at flyers for various Key West attractions while awaiting the next to arrive. An hour later 2 more middle-aged white ladies pulled in from the tarmac. By cellphone texts we found the other two had missed their flight and were not able to fly in until later. So after a bit of stressing we hailed a cab and arrived minutes later at our condo rental. A nice young security guard from North Dakota checked us in and we did a brief tour of our luxury condo.

It didn’t take long to realize we needed some booze. So we headed off and walked a couple blocks down to our local Irish pub. Downed a few there, had some great food and then it was off to the liquor store !! Laden with bags of wine and beer and chips, we hobbled back on foot to the condo, soon to be joined by the last stragglers. Having not been all together in one place for the last few years, the cackling was soon to start.

The booze and cigarettes flowed on the spacious veranda overlooking the pool and beach below. The quiet condo community was soon to feel as though nails were screeching on a blackboard. A few hoots turned into alot of hoots and a few light cackles relaxed into the full blown synchronized cackles of five 50’s something old ladies. And by God it was almost 11:00 at night and neighbors began to call out “Shut up!!!!” and similar fare.

Soon our cute little security guard was knocking on our door trying to explain how we had to keep it down, there were old people who needed their sleep and such. Old people? We had all become accustomed to thinking we were old, could there really be people out there older than ourselves? People who preferred to sleep at 11:00 at night? Suddenly we each came to our own epiphanies that we still had it… Yes, we still had it after all… that God-given ability to irritate the rest of the world while simultaneously enjoying each other’s company to an apparently unacceptable degree! How splendid !

Adjustments....

Going from vacation with my sisters in Key West to being back in SF at work?  Yeah...  Well...  Let's just remember the good times !!

 

Sorry 'bout dat

Sorry 'bout dat last post - Some days my anger rises to the surface of my fingertips and I end up with red text and bold font !!!  Ouch !!!
Today.... I feelin' a bit betta....  I am getting antsy in my pantsy for my vacation – I will be spending 7 glorious days with my sisters in Key West, Florida very soon. Hope to have fun, relax, get silly, drink a bit too much and see lots of sun, water and crocodiles.  Or crockodiliads as my brain thinks of them.  What is the difference between a crock and an alligator ?  I must research this.  Get me packed…. Get me ass out the door...!

Much Less Bonificent

Unfortunately I am feeling much less Bonificent this week...  It was all well and good to get airy fairy "nice" about cool airplanes and walking to work in the sun being enough to make life "worth it..."  After I have a weekend of downtime it really is much easier to be briefly content with the way things are. (see Sunday's post below)

HOWEVER..... I'm just not feelin' too much Bonificence after a coupla days at work...  WHY the "F" am I doing this anyway? Some days I'm just not into lying to myself...  Today - Feb. 2nd - Call me Malificent !!  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .   B.

'010 is Here

Oh ten is here and I thought last day of January an appropriate day to muse a bit.  Each year is a clean slate, but more importantly each day is a clean slate too.  No New Year's Resolutions float up to entertain me.  Mostly because I know by now I have made my own choices.  And a creature of habit doesn't change with a simple New Year resolution.  Instead the question seems to be... why do we choose the habits we do?

Why did we not change them before now?  Why do we stay in places and situations that we complain make us unhappy or do not fulfill us?  Because we chose to for a reason.   For me it's the moments along the way, the little things that give me very briefly a sense of enjoyment or wonder.  Like an aqua blue and white super sleek airplane (that someone owns!) and chose to fly across the downtown San Francisco landscape at just the moment I chose to go up on the roof to try out my new camera.  And in a more mundane sense, the simple pleasure of walking to work on a sunny day glistening down on the streets between my apartment and the job, inhaling fresh cool moist morning air, brushing shoulders with interesting strangers of some anonymous kinship.  For me there are no beautiful loves, soul mates, or perfect lives.  Just perfect moments to notice and enjoy for what they are. Fleeting bits of a life that keeps on rolling by.

A Quiet Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all - - it can be a little quiet in S.F. even with the company of 3 great kitties and a cockatiel birdie.  - But I am certain we will have a good group cuddle on Christmas in front of some nice Christmas special.

Sorry I didn't comb my hair or put on makeup!  Those eyelashes (see below) are such a hassle after a day at work !!

The forest was rife with dark sounds.... the hiss of a snake, moist twigs being broken by furtive feet, human?  Or animal?  Witch? Or monster?  We didn't care.... for we were Ogres ourselves.... lying in wait for innocent little creatures ....  then the faint cool sound of a hoot owl told us you were coming...  Good thing too... I was getting hungry....

Happy Halloween !!!  The closer it gets, the scarier it looks....

that playing with false eyelashes could be so empowering ?!?!?!?

I spent my entire life with little short thin eyelashes . . . what a waste of a once sweet young thing ! Got 'em for Halloween fun, now I just don't want to take them off !
